After the 8th Principal's Office of the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law in 2019 and the 18th Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law's School of Government was established on May 6, 2019. The School of Government was formed on the basis of the former School of International Affairs and Public Administration and the School of Social Management. It became the first School of Government in Shanghai and the first secondary school in the national political and law university named “School of Government”. On the afternoon of May 15th ,2019, the school held the official establishment meeting of the School of Government in the Yufu Building 112, and read out the list of the first members of the leadership of the School of Government: Lian Shufang (General Secretary), Wang Weimin (President, Deputy Secretary), Chuang Xiaoyan (Deputy Secretary), Tan Tan (Deputy Dean). The establishment of the School of Government is one of the important measures for the reform of the institution setting of the secondary school of our school. It aims to deepen the comprehensive reform of education and teaching, innovate the management system of running schools, optimize the layout of disciplines, enhance the efficiency of resource allocation, and improve the comprehensive strength of the school and Core Competitiveness.


 


The newly established the school of government has nearly 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students, and has seven undergraduate majors in politics and administration, sociology, international politics, social work,public administration, labor and social security, and applied psychology. The college has set up a master's degree in social work and a master's degree in National Security and Rule of Law (formerly International Politics and Global Governance) in the directory of first-level law subjects, and has established the National Security Research Institute and the Social Governance Research Institute. Northeast Asia Research Center, Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Institute, Belt and Road Safety Research Institute, Social Security Research Center and other research institutions. In 2009 and 2010, the international political majors and social work majors were respectively approved by the Shanghai Education Commission for undergraduate education highland construction. In 2010, the social work profession (major direction in the judicial social workers) was approved by the Ministry of Education for the sixth batch of specialized construction points for higher education. In 2014, the research direction of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and International Politics became one of the approved directions for the construction of Shanghai law school plateau. Since 2015, our international political major and Zhejiang University have jointly developed overseas PhD student. In 2017, the social work profession was approved by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission for the fourth batch of undergraduate applied talent training and construction. Since 2017, mainly relying on the international political professional teachers of our institute, The China Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Judicial Exchange and Cooperation Training Base and the East China University of Political Science and Law and the Qingpu District Government began to build a postdoctoral workstation.


 


In 2016, the “One Belt and One Road” Safety Research Institute and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Institute were also approved as the key research bases for humanities and social sciences in Shanghai universities. In 2017, The Northeast Asia Research Center and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Institute were also approved by the Ministry of Education's National Regional Research Center (Record construction). The newly integrated National Security Research Institute relies on the disciplinary advantages of China National Institute for SCO on International Exchanges and Judicial Cooperation(CNISCO) established in our school in the research areas of “One Belt and One Road”, Big Data Anti-terrorism, Northeast Asia and Central Asia Security, and is guided by the country's major strategic needs. Actively participate in and promote the construction of a theoretical system of national security disciplines with a Chinese character and adapted to China's national security work, a talent training mechanism, and a comprehensive study on the construction of national security disciplines
