President Liu Xiaohong Attended the Opening Ceremony of the 11th Moot Shanghai

On the evening of 5 March, the opening ceremony of the 11th Moot Shanghai was held at the Shanghai International Centre for Dispute Resolution. Xu Xin, Director of the Expo Administration Bureau of the Shanghai FTZ Administrative Committee, Liu Xiaohong, President of the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law and a member of the Expert Committee of the International Commercial Court of the Supreme People's Court, attended and delivered a speech. Besides, experts and scholars from the International Commercial Arbitration Commission, Shanghai Law Association, East China University of Political Science and Law and experts from King & Wood Mallesons, Darhui, and Tianzhu law firm attended the event.



At the beginning of this event, Liu Xiaohong congratulated the ICC Shanghai Representative Office on its admission to the Shanghai International Centre for Dispute Resolution. She said that arbitration as a method of dispute resolution is gaining ground and expanding its role in practice, and she was pleased to see more and more young legal professionals joining the ranks of arbitration. She also expressed her gratitude to those in the legal profession who stay on the path of arbitration development. Over the past 11 years, Moot Shanghai has been committed to fostering legal professionalism among young people in the field of arbitration, attracting several young people to chase their arbitration dreams. Furthermore, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law will do its best in hosting Moot Shanghai in the future.


Xu Guojian, Distinguished Dean of the School of International Law, was invited to speak at the opening session of Moot Shanghai 2021. The School of International Law has long been committed to the training of international legal talents. Since 2009, they have sent teams of students to participate in more than 40 international projects and competitions, and have achieved many excellent results in international commercial arbitration and mediation competitions.



Over the past eleven years, our university has hosted the International Commercial Arbitration Moot Shanghai by organizing conferences, participants, and staff. We hope to help young law students improve their legal knowledge and application skills amid globalization by expanding external exchanges.

 

To run the Moot Shanghai 2021 well, the School of International Law formed an experienced and strong team to participate in the competition and put all its efforts into supporting the team. The School also actively recruited volunteers and sent 22 volunteers to participate in all aspects of the event after a selection process to ensure the smooth running of the competition.
