In March 2021, the Permanent Bureau of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) published its 2020 Annual Report. SHUPL being the only university which successfully sent students to the HCCH Asia-Pacific Regional Office for the internship program in 2020, five students from SHUPL were listed in the report.

The Hague Conference on Private International Law, founded in 1893, which established a cooperative relationship with SHUPL in September 2016, is a specialized intergovernmental international organization for the study and formulation of treaties on private international law, and has gradually become the most effective and influential international organization in the field of harmonizing conflict of laws and procedural law. It is noted that during their internship at HCCH Asia Pacific Regional Office, SHUPL students participated in the research of frequently discussed topics in private international law, such as surrogacy, online dispute resolution for tourists, and the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Judgments in Civil and Commercial Matters. The students have made great progress in understanding international rules and handling international affairs as their international perspectives further expanded, which has been highly regarded by HCCH officials.

At the time when China is promoting the cultivation of Foreign-related legal professionals, SHUPL, upholding the spirit of strengthening the cultivation of reserve talents for international organizations, will continue to explore the feasibility and success of such foreign-related rule of law talent cultivation programs through cooperation with various international organizations.
