The ¡°Judicial Round Table¡± was held

The ¡°Judicial Round Table¡± was held online and offline from September 29th to October 1st


This conference was co-organized by Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, University of Hong Kong, sponsored by the Supreme People¡¯s Court Fourth Civil Division Judicial Research Center for the Belt and Road Initiative, Shanghai Law Association¡°Belt & Road¡±Initiative Legal Research Society, organized by International Affairs Office and School of International Law of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law.



On the opening ceremony, which took place on the evening of September 29th in China National Institute for SCO International Exchange and Judicial Cooperation , Professor Liu Xiaohong , the president of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, delivered the opening speech. She pointed out that the theme of the economic and trade exchanges among countries still lies in international business practice, and that our university has been holding long-term commitment to serve the construction of ¡°One Belt One Road¡±initiative and promote judicial and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and along countries along the way, vigorously creating a platform for academic cooperation and exchanges featured with international influence.



This seminar attracted many senior judges, experts and scholars from China, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Australia, Russia, the United States, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and other countries into carrying out a series of active and profound discussions. The chief justice Sundaresh Menon from the supreme court of Singapore delivered a keynote speech concerning the mutual shaping and influence between globalization and law.



The conference focused on the redefinition of international disputes, the rise of international commercial arbitration and international commercial courts, the vicissitude of investor-state dispute settlement mechanisms, the finality and certainty of international commercial settlement, the convergence of law merchant and international commercial law, the impact of COVID-19 on international dispute settlement mechanisms. The Chinese attenders Xu Guojian , dean of the School of International Law of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, Xiao Kai , vice president of Shanghai Financial Court,Yu Shuijuan , president of Suzhou International Commercial Court, Wang Lihua , professor of the School of International Law of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, Zhang Zhengyi , deputy director of the International Affairs Office of Shanghai University of Political Science and Lawshared their opinions and ideas correspondingly and respectively. 



Xu Guojian delivered the closing speech, believing that this seminar was fruitful and conducive to sharing experience and deepening exchanges and cooperation among judicial professionals and researchers.




The judicial round table was abundant in content and splendid in presentation. Participants vigorously explored new ideas and approaches of judicial cooperation with regular pandemic prevention and control, jointly advanced new development of round-table mechanism and promoted multilateral judicial cooperation into a brand new level in the post-pandemic era.
